George Herbert
George Herbert (1593–1633) was an English poet, orator, and priest of the Church of England, renowned as one of the foremost British devotional lyricists and a major metaphysical poet[1][3]. Born in Montgomery, Wales into a wealthy and artistic family, he later became the rector of Fugglestone St Peter and Bemerton near Salisbury, where he spent his final years until dying of consumption at age 39[1][2].
