George Gamow
George Gamow was a Russian-born American nuclear physicist and cosmologist who was a foremost advocate of the Big Bang theory and discovered a theoretical explanation of alpha decay by quantum tunneling[2]. He also made foundational contributions to genetic theory through his work on DNA and predicted the existence of cosmic microwave background radiation[2][1]. Gamow was renowned for popularizing science through his 'Mr. Tompkins' series and 'One, Two, Three...Infinity!' book, earning the UNESCO Kalinga Prize in 1956[1][7].
