George Gabriel Stokes
George Gabriel Stokes was an Irish mathematician and physicist best known for his foundational work in fluid dynamics, optics, and vector calculus. He spent his career at the University of Cambridge, where he served as Lucasian Professor of Mathematics for 54 years and made lasting contributions including Stokes’s theorem and the law of viscosity.
