George Francis 1845-1 Savage-Armstrong
George Francis Savage-Armstrong (1845-1906) was an Irish poet, scholar, and academic born in Dublin to Edmund John Armstrong and Jane Savage. He graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1869, became Professor of English and History at Queen's College, Cork, and in 1890 added 'Savage' to his surname as the chronicler of the Savage family, authoring works like 'A Genealogical History of the Savage Family in Ulster.' He was a contender for Poet Laureate after Tennyson and connected to Wicklow and County Down through family ties.[1][2][3][4][5]
