George Douglas
George Douglas was a pseudonym for George Douglas Brown, a Scottish novelist born in 1869 who became instrumental in the early 20th-century realistic literature movement. He is best known for his novel 'The House With the Green Shutters' (1901), which offered a stark, unsentimental portrayal of Scottish life and critiqued the Kailyard literary tradition. Brown died suddenly in London in 1902 at age 33, leaving a significant legacy in Scottish literary realism.
