George Daniel
George Daniel (1789–1864) was an English writer, poet, playwright, and novelist of the early nineteenth century, known for works such as the farcical play The Disagreeable Surprise, the three-volume novel Dick Distich written at age eighteen, and Merrie England in the Olden Time, a collection of essays and anecdotes. Orphaned young after his father's death in 1796, he attended boarding school in Paddington Green and became a renowned collector of folio editions of William Shakespeare's works. His play Doctor Bolus premiered at the English Opera House in 1818.
