George Ancona
George Ancona (1929–2021) was an American author, photographer, and filmmaker renowned for creating over 100 photo-illustrated nonfiction children's books that immerse young readers in diverse cultures and everyday lives. Born in Brooklyn, New York, to Mexican immigrant parents from Yucatan, he began as a graphic designer and art director before transitioning to freelance photography and children's literature. His works, often bilingual in English and Spanish, earned awards like the 2002 Washington Post-Children’s Book Guild Nonfiction Award.[1][2][4][5]
