Georg Gerster
Georg Gerster (1928–2019) was a Swiss journalist, science editor, and pioneering aerial photographer renowned for his breathtaking images of landscapes, archaeological sites, and environmental features captured from aircraft.[1][2] Born in Winterthur, he studied classical languages at the University of Zurich, earning his doctorate in 1950, before transitioning to freelance work in science reportage and photography, contributing to publications like National Geographic, Geo, and Neue Zürcher Zeitung.[2][3] His aerial surveys collaborated with UNESCO to document and preserve historic sites worldwide, blending artistic vision with scientific precision over a career spanning decades.[2][7]
