Geoffrey Blainey
Geoffrey Norman Blainey (born 11 March 1930) is an Australian historian, academic, bestselling author, and commentator renowned for his authoritative works on Australian economic and social history, including The Tyranny of Distance and Triumph of the Nomads.[1][2] He has published over 40 books on topics ranging from Australian history to global histories and Christianity, and held professorships at the University of Melbourne and Harvard University.[1][3] Blainey has also served on government councils and received awards such as the Britannica Prize.[3]
