Genny Beemyn

Genny Beemyn, Ph.D. is a historian, writer, and LGBTQ advocate who has been the director of the Stonewall Center at the University of Massachusetts Amherst since 2006. One of the country's first out nonbinary college administrators, they are a leading expert on transgender and nonbinary college students, having conducted the first national study on nonbinary students and written extensively on trans-inclusive campus policies. Their published works include A Queer Capital: A History of Gay Life in Washington, D.C. and The Lives of Transgender People, and they serve as co-editor of The SAGE Encyclopedia of Trans Studies.
