Gene L. Davenport

Gene L. Davenport was a Christian theologian, writer, educator, Western singer, and songwriter. He earned a Ph.D. in Religion from Vanderbilt University in 1968 with a dissertation on the eschatology of the Book of Jubilees, served as Professor Emeritus of Religion at Lambuth University, and later as Theologian in Residence at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Jackson, Tennessee. He authored works such as 'Into The Darkness' and was honored with the essay collection 'Courage to Bear Witness' in 2009.
