Gavin Bishop
Gavin John Bishop ONZM (born 1946) is a renowned New Zealand author and illustrator of children's picture books, known for his distinctive ink and watercolour illustrations in over 70 titles translated into twelve languages.[1][2] Born in Invercargill to a Tainui and Ngāti Awa family, he worked as a high school art teacher for thirty years before becoming a full-time creator, collaborating with authors like Joy Cowley and Margaret Mahy, and earning numerous awards including five Best New Zealand Children's Book of the Year honors.[1][3][6]
