Gary Paulsen
Gary Paulsen (1939–2021) was a prolific American author of over 200 books, primarily children's and young adult fiction, best known for coming-of-age stories like Hatchet set in the wilderness.[1][2] Drawing from his own adventures as a trapper, hunter, and Iditarod dogsledder, his works often feature teens surviving in nature and achieving self-awareness.[3][5] He received the Margaret A. Edwards Award in 1997 for his contributions to young adult literature.[1][2]
