Gary Gereffi

Gary Allan Gereffi is an American economic sociologist and author known for his pioneering work on global value chains, global commodity chains, industrial upgrading, and the role of multinational corporations in development. He is emeritus professor of sociology at Duke University and founding director of the Global Value Chains Center there, and has authored or co-authored numerous books on globalization and economic development.
