Garrett P. ( Putman) Serviss
Garrett Putnam Serviss (1851–1929) was an American astronomer, popularizer of astronomy, and early science fiction writer known as the 'Sun's Astronomer' for his column in the New York Sun. He graduated from Cornell University with a science degree and later earned a law degree from Columbia, though he pursued journalism instead, becoming a key figure in laying the groundwork for the science fiction genre with works like 'Edison's Conquest of Mars.'
