Garrett Mattingly

Garrett Mattingly (1900–1962) was an American historian and educator who specialized in early modern European diplomatic history, particularly the Spanish Empire. He taught at Columbia University after serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II and won the 1960 Pulitzer Prize for his book The Defeat of the Spanish Armada.
