Gabrielle Roy

Gabrielle Roy was a Canadian author from Saint-Boniface, Manitoba, and one of the major voices in French-language literature in Canada. Her first novel, Bonheur d’occasion (The Tin Flute), earned major acclaim for its realist portrayal of working-class life in Manitoba and Quebec, and she later wrote fiction, memoir, and children’s literature.
