Fredrika Bremer

Fredrika Bremer (17 August 1801 – 31 December 1865) was a Finnish-born Swedish writer and reformer, regarded as the Swedish Jane Austen for introducing the realist novel to Swedish literature. Her novel *Hertha* sparked a social movement that granted unmarried Swedish women legal majority at age 25 and established Sweden's first female tertiary school. She is celebrated as a pioneer of women's rights and early Swedish feminism.
