Frederick W. Alt

Frederick W. Alt is an American geneticist and molecular biologist renowned for his groundbreaking research in immunology, genetics, and cancer, particularly his work on maintaining genome stability in mammalian immune cells. He is a Charles A. Janeway Professor of Pediatrics and Professor of Genetics at Harvard Medical School, and an Investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute since 1987. His pioneering discoveries in gene amplification and DNA damage repair have significantly shaped modern cancer research and the development of genetically targeted therapies.
