Franz Baader
Franz Xaver von Baader (1765–1841) was a German Catholic theologian, philosopher, and mining engineer who resisted the empiricism of his era and denounced Western philosophy since Descartes as trending toward atheism. He is considered a revival of the Scholastic school and was appointed professor of speculative theology at the University of Munich in 1826, where he published major works including Fermenta Cognitionis (1822–1825).
