Frank N Magill

Frank Northen Magill (1907-1997) was a distinguished American author and editor who founded Salem Press in 1949, becoming one of the most prolific publishers of reference works in the United States. He served as Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Salem Press until his death, overseeing the publication of hundreds of volumes including the renowned 'Masterplots' series and surveys of science fiction and fantasy literature. His expertise in reference publishing became so recognized that librarians often referred to Salem Press publications as 'Magill books.'
