Frank Leslie

Frank Leslie, born Henry Carter (1821–1880), was a British-American illustrator, engraver, and pioneering publisher who founded numerous illustrated newspapers in the United States, including Frank Leslie’s Illustrated Newspaper (1855). He began his career with sketches for the Illustrated London News, moved to New York in 1848 (or 1853 per some accounts), and gained fame for his Civil War battlefield illustrations, which brought significant profits.[1][2]
