Frank Asch (Author, Illustrator)
Frank Asch (1946-2022) was an American author and illustrator of children's books, best known for creating over 80 works including the popular Moonbear series and classics like Happy Birthday Moon and Here Comes the Cat, the first U.S.-Soviet children's book collaboration. Born in Somerville, New Jersey, he graduated from Cooper Union in 1969 with a BFA, published his first book George's Store in 1968, and taught in India and the U.S. while leading workshops in art and storytelling.
