Francoise-Athenais De Roch Montespan
Françoise-Athénaïs de Rochechouart de Mortemart, known as Madame de Montespan, was a French noblewoman and the most celebrated mistress of King Louis XIV. She served as a lady-in-waiting at court, became Louis XIV’s official mistress in 1667, and later retired from court in 1691, spending her final years in religious penance.
