Frances Hodgson Burnett
Frances Eliza Hodgson Burnett (1849–1924) was a British-born American novelist and playwright, best known for her classic children's novels Little Lord Fauntleroy (1886), A Little Princess (1905), and The Secret Garden (1911). Born in Manchester, England, she emigrated to the United States in 1865, began writing stories at age 19 to support her family, and became one of the highest-paid authors of her time.
