Frances Backhouse
Frances Backhouse is an award-winning Canadian author and former biologist who has called the British Columbia coast home for more than half her life. She has authored six nonfiction books for children and adults, including 'Once They Were Hats: In Search of the Mighty Beaver' and 'Children of the Klondike,' which won the 2010 City of Victoria Butler Book Prize. Her science writing draws on her background in zoology and her experience as a park naturalist.
