John Foxe was an English clergyman, theologian, historian, and Protestant martyrologist best known for *Acts and Monuments*, widely called *Foxe's Book of Martyrs*. His work documented the suffering of Christian martyrs, especially English Protestants, and strongly influenced English religious opinion for centuries.
