Florence Sakade

Florence Sakade (1916–1999) was a pioneering book editor, designer, author, and translator in postwar English-language publishing in Japan, working over 40 years at Charles E. Tuttle Co. where she edited and produced hundreds of books, many best-sellers.[1][2] Born in Tottori Prefecture, Japan, she moved to Canada at age six, received her education there, and later attended Tokyo Women’s Christian College before returning to publishing.[1] She compiled popular works on Japanese culture like Japanese Children's Favorite Stories and Origami: Japanese Paper Folding.[2][4]
