Fay Weldon
Fay Weldon (1931-2023) was a prolific British novelist, playwright, and scriptwriter renowned for her witty, satirical explorations of women's lives and societal norms. She published her first novel, The Fat Woman's Joke, in 1967, and went on to write over 30 novels, including the acclaimed The Life and Loves of a She-Devil (1983), alongside numerous TV dramas like the award-winning Upstairs, Downstairs episode, stage plays, and short stories. Weldon also penned her autobiography Auto da Fay in 2002 and served as a professor of Creative Writing at Bath Spa University.
