Eugenio María de Hostos
Eugenio María de Hostos was a Puerto Rican educator, philosopher, and patriot known as 'El Gran Ciudadano de las Américas' for his lifelong advocacy of independence, universal education, and women's rights across the Caribbean and Latin America. He authored over 50 books, including the seminal novel 'La Peregrinación de Bayoán,' and played a pivotal role in shaping educational systems in the Dominican Republic and Chile before settling there until his death.
