Eugene Kamenka
Eugene Kamenka (1928–1994) was a philosopher and historian of ideas, born in Cologne, Germany, to Russian Jewish émigré parents, and moved to Australia in 1937. He earned first-class honours in philosophy from the University of Sydney and a PhD from the Australian National University with his thesis *The Ethical Foundations of Marxism* (1962). Kamenka served as Professor and Head of the History of Ideas at the Australian National University's Institute of Advanced Studies, authoring works like *Marxism and Ethics* (1969) and *The Portable Karl Marx* (1983).[1][2]
