Eugene (Fr. Seraphim) Rose

Eugene Dennis Rose (1934-1982), known as Hieromonk Seraphim, was a brilliant American convert to Orthodox Christianity who became one of the most influential Orthodox writers and missionaries of the 20th century. Born into a Protestant family in San Diego, he rejected Western materialism and eventually found his spiritual home in the Russian Orthodox Church, establishing a monastic brotherhood in remote Northern California. From this wilderness monastery, he published influential English translations of Orthodox spiritual texts and missionary writings that profoundly impacted Orthodox Christianity in America and beyond.
