Esmail Khoi

Esmail Khoi (1938–2021) was an Iranian poet and writer who maintained the tradition of medieval Persian greats while living in exile in the United Kingdom after being forced out of Iran in the 1980s[1][2]. Originally a philosophy lecturer before the Iranian Revolution, he earned a PhD in Philosophy from London University and became the first Iranian writer to receive the Coburg Rückert Prize for literature in 2010[1][2]. His poems have been translated into multiple languages including English, French, Russian, German, and Ukrainian[1].
