Ernest H. Shackleton
Sir Ernest Henry Shackleton was an Anglo-Irish Antarctic explorer renowned for leading the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1914–1917), where his ship Endurance was trapped in ice, yet he ensured the survival of all 27 crew members through remarkable leadership. He participated in key expeditions including Discovery (1901–1904) under Robert Falcon Scott, Nimrod (1907–1909) reaching 88°S, and his final Shackleton-Rowett Expedition (1921–1922). Celebrated for perseverance, Shackleton died aboard his ship Quest near South Georgia.
