Erin Thompson
Erin Thompson is a professor of art crime at John Jay College of Criminal Justice at City University of New York, where she studies the damage done to cultural heritage through looting, theft, and deliberate destruction of art. She holds a J.D. from Columbia Law School and a Ph.D. in Art History from Columbia University (both 2010). She is the author of 'Smashing Statues: The Rise and Fall of American Monuments' and 'Possession: The Curious History of Private Collectors,' and writes widely about art crime for publications including The New York Times and Smithsonian Magazine.
