Eric Carle
Eric Carle was an American author and illustrator of children's picture books, best known for creating The Very Hungry Caterpillar (1969), which has sold over 50 million copies and been translated into 66 languages. Born in Syracuse, New York, he moved to Germany at age six, later returning to America in 1952 to pursue his career in children's literature. He created more than 70 picture books and founded The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Amherst, Massachusetts.
