Elizabeth Crary

Elizabeth Cary (1585/1586–1639), also known as Viscountess Falkland, was an English poet, dramatist, translator, and historian. She is widely regarded as the first woman to have written and published an original play in English, *The Tragedy of Mariam*. [2][3][4]
