Elenore C. Nordyke
Eleanor C. Nordyke was a Hawaii-based author and researcher specializing in demographic history, best known for her book 'The Peopling of Hawaii' (1977, 1989) and other works on Hawaiian population and history. A long-time Manoa Valley resident, she retired from the East-West Center Population Institute after over 20 years and gained public attention in 2014 by sharing her twin daughters' birth certificates from Kapiolani Medical Center, the day after Barack Obama's birth there. She passed away on January 17, 2014.
