Elaine Scarry

Elaine Scarry is an American essayist and professor of English and American Literature and Language at Harvard University, where she holds the Walter M. Cabot Professorship of Aesthetics and the General Theory of Value.[1][2] Her work focuses on aesthetics, the theory of representation, pain, and the relationship between art, science, law, and politics, and she is especially known for *The Body in Pain*.[1][2][3]
