Egon Ronay
Egon Miklos Ronay (1915–2010) was a Hungarian-born restaurateur, journalist, and food critic who fled communist Hungary in 1946 and settled in London, where he managed restaurants and began writing food columns for The Daily Telegraph.[1][3][4] He became renowned for publishing the influential Egon Ronay's Guide to British Eateries starting in 1957, which elevated standards in British and Irish restaurants and promoted foreign cuisine.[1][2][3] His work significantly improved public dining in the UK during the mid-20th century.[1][5]
