Edwin S. Shneidman

Edwin S. Shneidman was a pioneering American clinical psychologist and suicidologist, widely recognized as the 'father of modern suicidology' for his foundational work in suicide prevention and the establishment of the Los Angeles Suicide Prevention Center. He founded the American Association of Suicidology and served as a Professor of Thanatology at the University of California, Los Angeles, publishing over 20 books on suicide and its prevention.
