Edwin Hodder

Edwin Hodder (1837–1904) was a British author and hymnwriter born in Staines, Middlesex. He emigrated to New Zealand as a young man for a pioneer society experiment (1856-61), later returning to England to work as a civil servant until 1897. Hodder was prolific in genres including travel, geography, history, biography, religion, and hymnwriting, with notable works like Memories of New Zealand Life (1862) and The Life and Work of the seventh Earl of Shaftesbury (1886).
