Edward W (Edward Wight) 1881 Washburn
Edward Wight Washburn (1881–1934) was an American chemist known for his contributions to physical chemistry, including improved techniques for petroleum fractionation and isolating rubber in crystal form at the National Bureau of Standards.[1][3] Born in Beatrice, Nebraska, to William Gilmor Washburn, a lumber and brick merchant, and Flora Ella Wight, he worked as a chemist, civil servant, and educator.[1][2][3][6] He died suddenly of heart failure in Washington, D.C.[2][3]
