Edward N Beecher

Edward Beecher (1803–1895) was an American theologian, son of Lyman Beecher and brother of Harriet Beecher Stowe and Henry Ward Beecher. He graduated from Yale College in 1822, served as pastor at Park Street Church in Boston, became the first president of Illinois College (1830–1844), and was a key figure in organizing Illinois's first anti-slavery society. Beecher authored works on theology, holiness, and abolitionism, including 'History of the Alton Riots' (1837), and edited religious publications like The Congregationalist.[1][2][3]
