Edward MacLysaght
Edward MacLysaght (1887–1986) was an Irish genealogist, historian, senator, and author renowned for his books on Irish surnames, building on Rev. Patrick Woulfe's work. Born Edgeworth Lysaght in England, he adopted the name MacLysaght in 1920, served as Chief Herald of Ireland (1943–1954), Keeper of Manuscripts at the National Library (1948–1954), and Chairman of the Irish Manuscripts Commission (1956–1973).[1][3][5]
