Edward Hirsch

Edward Hirsch is an acclaimed American poet, literary critic, and advocate for poetry, born in Chicago in 1950. He earned a PhD in folklore from the University of Pennsylvania and has published numerous collections of poetry and prose, including the national bestseller How to Read a Poem and Fall in Love with Poetry. Hirsch is the president of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation and a Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets.
