Edmund Spenser

Edmund Spenser (c. 1552–1599) was an English poet best known for his epic allegorical poem The Faerie Queene, which celebrates the Tudor dynasty and Queen Elizabeth I. Born in London to a modest family, he studied at Cambridge, published his first major work The Shepheardes Calender in 1579, and served as a government official in Ireland before returning to London where he died.[1][2][4]
