Edmond Hamilton

Edmond Hamilton (1904–1977) was a pioneering American science fiction writer best known for creating the space opera subgenre and the character Captain Future. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, he was a prolific author of over 30 novels and 400 stories, contributing significantly to pulp magazines like Weird Tales and Amazing Stories, as well as early comic book superhero narratives for DC Comics. He married fellow writer Leigh Brackett in 1946 and remained active in the genre until his death in Lancaster, California.
