Edith Nesbit

Edith Nesbit (1858-1924) was an influential English author and poet, best known for her pioneering children's literature including classics like 'The Railway Children' and 'The Story of the Treasure-Seekers,' which introduced realism and adventure to the genre.[1][3] She began her career with poetry, wrote over 60 books for children, and was a co-founder of the Fabian Society, actively promoting socialist causes.[1][2] Nesbit's works influenced later writers such as C.S. Lewis and J.K. Rowling, blending fantasy, humor, and social commentary.[4][6]
