Ed Meyer

Eduard Meyer (1855–1930) was a German historian and professor of ancient history who made groundbreaking contributions to the study of antiquity. He is renowned for constructing a comprehensive account of ancient world history from oriental beginnings through Roman times, successfully integrating the history of Egypt, the Near East, and Israelite and Jewish history into ancient historical scholarship. Meyer held professorships at major German universities including Breslau, Halle, and Berlin, and also lectured internationally at Harvard and the University of Illinois.
